2008 South Pacific
Dancesport Championship

A big thank you to all competitors
& supporters for this years SPDC
the response was wonderful .

In excess of 650 dancers from
all states and territories ,Philippines,Indonesia,Iceland
,America & New Zealand  competed
over the weekend to an extremely
response audience from start to finish.

The Bayside Auditorium at The Sydney
Convention & Exhibition Centre  was
warmly received offering first class
facilities for all to enjoy .The FATD
have taken onboard the task of
facilitating an eating and lounge area
within the foyer area  for 2009 .

There were many highlights over the
2 days of dancing but one of the stand
out moments of the weekend had to
be the surprise  floor show by Luke &
Luda and Csaba & Charlie from
Dancing with The Stars .

The audience loved seeing the
celebrities and their partners dancing
Salsa , what an admirable job by Luda
and Csaba for making Latin and
Ballroom dancer out of  Luke and
Charlie , not an enviable job in such a
short time .

All finalists were paraded around the
floor at the commencement of the
Sunday evening as were the very
experienced panel of Adjudicators .
It was great to see some of the past
FATD  directors and FATD  identities
that have helped build the association
over the years  at the VIP tables on
Sunday evening , to name a few
………. Jan Blanch ,Neville Boyd ,Bob
& Cathy Field ,Ilma Able ,Val Randal
,Doreen Kaysewel &,Gwen Wallace
.I must make mention and Thank
Margaret Lonsdale for taking time out
of her busy schedule organising
The World Latin to attend the
Championship .

The frees classes and displays that
were organised by FATD throughout
the Darling Harbour precinct were
very successful ,having at times up
to 200 people in a classes…… and I’m
sure if it had not been for the rain
would have seen even more people
involved .These activities brought 100
additional spectators into the SPDC
to view just what goes on at a
Dancesport Championship.

WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU ALL AT THE 2009 SPDC
OCTOBER 10 TH & 11TH .

DANCE LEAGUE POPULARITY

The FATD introduced Dance League for the Autumn Festival in April of this year .This is a short inexpensive competition designed to target the social dancer / medallist and has proven very successful with to date in excess of 150 new competitors to the Dancesport Areana .The success of the Dance League has enabled the FATD to discount certain ticket categories for the Olympic Park Fiesta ………… Yes Discount !!!!!
For those competitors that did not quite understand why there was a change to the usual FATD competition structure hopefully now you do and will appreciate the possibilities of having new blood involved in our competition base .
